Purpose:

To provide welcome and education to potential and newer members in their understanding of both the Church and the denomination.

Duties:

• Responsible for outreach to potential members and newer members
• Conduct monthly visitor informational meetings in the Nichols Room
• Conduct new member welcome ceremonies
• Assist new members in connecting with activities, committees and services
• Foster connection though events such as potluck dinners
• Develop and keep current new member information packet
• Order brochures and other relevant information for the Welcome & Information Table
• Ensure adequate supply of pew cards and monitor the guest book
• Seek out and engage visitors
• Maintain updated list of committees, activities and contacts.

How you can help:

“Every member is a member of the Membership committee.”

Every Sunday, look around you and see if there’s someone you don’t recognize. Introduce yourself at the first opportunity – before or after the service. Just say "Hi, I’m so-and-so. Are you new to the Church?” Don’t worry if it’s someone who has been coming for ten years and you just didn’t know him or her, you should meet that person, too!

Find out if the visitors have any questions. Show them to the Welcome & Information Table in the Stetson Gallery. Invite them to the coffee hour. Introduce them to other members. And make sure they fill out either a visitor card from the hymnal rack or sign the visitor book on the Welcome & Information Table. Help them in every way you can to learn about the Church and UUism.

And the next time you see those visitors, greet them as old friends.
