Pastoral Associates
Purpose:
- To enhance pastoral care of the congregation by providing members with a lay minister during times of crisis, illness, or other needs.
- Pastoral Care Associates are invited, trained and supervised by the minister. The minister, in consultation with the Chair of the committee, assigns PCAs to provide emotional support to members as needed
- The PCAs are a support system, not therapy. In that light, they listen and may offer comments.
- The PCAs also coordinate other practical care in conjunction with the Caring Committee.
- The PCAs note the Blossoms and Concerns during service and are available in the Sunday Service Receiving line for support
- The PCAs hold monthly meetings for coordination and continuing education and attend district-wide lay ministry trainings
- Pastoral care is done with care and confidentiality
To request a Pastoral Associate, please contact the committee chair or the minister.
