Information on Pledging

In the spring every year our church conducts a pledge drive called Every Member Canvass (EMC). At this time members state the amount of financial support they wish to pledge for the fiscal year, June 1 to May 31. The individual pledge amounts are confidential and known only to the few who keep the records. It is understood that the member can change the amount during the year should financial circumstances change.

It is a requirement of membership to support the Church financially by pledging and paying some amount each year. The church depends greatly on this support; 63% of the 2006-2007 budgeted operating income came from pledge income.

Payment Choices

Regardless of which way you pay your pledge, please consider making payments regularly through the church year, e.g., monthly or quarterly. If many members do this, UUCM will have steady income and be able to pay expenses every month without needing to borrow from the line of credit.

Payment choices (You can set up the first two choices to make repeated payments automatically – one time effort lasting the whole year!):

  • Bank check arranged with your bank to mail payments (payable to UUCM) from your bank account to UUCM with pledge payment in the memo field
  • Personal check made payable to UUCM with pledge payment in the memo field (mail it to UUCM, put it in the collection plate, or bring it to the office)
  • Cash in a sealed envelope addressed to Asst. Treasurer with your name inside (put it in the collection plate or bring it to the office)
