Who we are
We are a Welcoming Unitarian Universalist Congregation located on Mugford Street in the beautiful seaside town of Marblehead. We offer Sunday Services, Volunteering, Community Engagement, Social Action, Youth Activities, Religious Education and Social Events.
We are united in our broad and inclusive outlook, and in our values, as expressed in our seven Principles. We are united in shared experience: our open and stirring worship services, religious education, and rites of passage; our work for social justice; our quest to include the marginalized; our expressions of love.
There are seven principles which we affirm and promote:
The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
We have more than one way of experiencing the world and understanding the sacred, drawing from six written traditional sources of inspiration and more including poetry to modern-day heroes.
These principles are important, expressed in what we do. It’s how we "walk" our "talk,"-- how we make our faith real.
In Unitarian Universalism, you can bring your whole genuine self: your full identity, your questioning mind, your expansive heart. By creating meaningful communities that draw from many wisdom traditions, and more, we are embodying a vision “beyond belief:” a vision of peace, love, and understanding. Here you will find a real community that grows by welcoming and valuing people as they truly are, not as they may try to appear to be. Together we seek and learn to be better people and work to make the world better for all.
We are a Welcoming Community. Reverend Seth Carrier-Ladd is our Interim minster while a committee searches for a settled minister. Rev. Seth will lead Sunday services at 10:30 am mid September through mid June at 28 Mugford Street, Marblehead. Mid June through mid September, lay-led services are held at 9:30 am, currently on Zoom.
For regular services, parking is available on the street and in the Gerry School parking lot on Elm Street. Child care is available for infants and toddlers – religious exploration classes for kindergarten through high school.
