Who we are

We are a Welcoming Unitarian Universalist Congregation located on Mugford Street in the beautiful seaside town of Marblehead. We offer Sunday Services, Volunteering, Community Engagement, Social Action, Youth Activities, Religious Exploration and Social Events.

We are united in our broad and inclusive outlook, and in our values, as expressed in our seven Principles. We are united in shared experience: our open and stirring worship services, religious exploration, and rites of passage; our work for social justice; our quest to include the marginalized; our expressions of love.

There are seven principles which we affirm and promote:

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

  • Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;

  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

The above is taken from UUA Article II and is a current, well-known summary. That said, Article II is being reconsidered and you can read about it here.

These principles are important, expressed in what we do. It’s how we "walk" our "talk,"-- how we make our faith real.

We also draw from six written traditional sources of inspiration, and more including poetry.

In Unitarian Universalism, you can bring your whole genuine self: your full identity, your questioning mind, your expansive heart.  Here you will find a real community that grows by welcoming and valuing people as they truly are, not as they may try to appear to be. Together we seek and learn to be better people and work to make the world better for all.

Reverend Jenna Crawford is our minster and leads Sunday services at 10:30 am except for lay-led services in the summer which are held at 9:30 am.  Services are now held in the Sanctuary at 28 Mugford Street, Marblehead and on Zoom.

Parking is available on Harris Ct,  Mugford, Pond, and Gerry streets and in the Gerry School parking lot on Elm Street. Child care will be available for infants and toddlers – religious exploration classes for kindergarten through high school as we recover from the disruption caused by Covid-19.
