Robin Crosbie Watercolor Artist - bio
After retiring from a career in local government management, I decided to return to my first love: art. I received my BFA from East Carolina University, with an emphasis on drawing and painting.
After graduation, I taught art on the Navajo nation in Arizona at internationally renowned Rough Rock Demonstration School. It was a profound cultural experience that I carry with me to this day. After, I moved to Colorado where I taught art at a community college. Later, in recognition of my interest in politics and public policy, I obtained my Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. I returned to the East Coast, where I began my career as a town manager in Massachusetts, or, as I like to say, “I worked on the front lines of democracy.”
After retirement, I re-booted my art practice by taking classes at Slow River Art Studio in Topsfield and have been painting now for several years. I am a juried member of the Marblehead Arts Association and the Ipswich Arts Association and have had my work shown in both venues, as well in Slow River exhibitions. I paint what moves and inspires me: land- and seascapes, trees, animals and more recently, to capture candid human moments. I am still exploring techniques and subjects, and eschew creating a “style”, preferring to explore and challenge myself with new techniques and subjects, with unpredictable results.
