The Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead this morning salutes Harvard University and its President, Alan Garber, for having the courage to stand in opposition to illegal, illiberal and unconstitutional demands made on it by the current national administration.  We will explore one of our principal connections between church and university, the fact that our founding minister, Rev. Edward Holyoke, went on from serving this church to a slightly longer term serving as president of Harvard and distinguished himself in both roles by his integrity and liberality. Virtually all of the leaders of the patriot cause in the American revolution had studied under Rev. Holyoke.
