Churches and other non-profits frequently have funds that have been donated for specific uses outside the normal budgeting process. They can carry forward indefinitely.

UUCM's accounting software, Quick Books Online, supports this tracking and reporting by calling each fund a 'Class', with the 'Unrestricted Class' used for routine activity/budgeting.
